The AP Economic Development Board and the former Andhra Pradesh state Chief Minister Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu during their recent tenure has negotiated a deal with Indonesia's Sinarmas Group's Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) to install a 5,000 metric ton paper plant in the state. The foreign direct investment for the project is estimated to be $3.5 billion, which was planned to be set up in the Ravur village in the Prakasam district. The former government of the TDP Political Party has designed to be built the paper unit on 2,500 acres of land, which is expected to create 4,000 direct jobs and an additional 10,000 indirect jobs.
The erstwhile Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the corresponding Prakasam District TDP Leaders were present during the signing of the agreement and welcomed the APP initiative. He stated that Andhra Pradesh will experience rapid growth with the upcoming paper unit and the Ramayapatnam port, both located in the Prakasam district and that the new port and paper unit will transform the economic scenario of the state. He also sought cooperation from the farmers and emphasized the Government's top priority for their empowerment.
This TDP Political news of the paper units brought joy to the subabul farmers in the Prakasam district which will have a capacity of approximately 5 million metric tons of paper and board after the completion of the second phase and is expected to uplift the livelihood of around 50,000 farmers in the area who will provide eucalyptus wood material for the pulp needed to manufacture paper.
