If Volkswagen’s three-row Atlas seems a little too boxy, take a look at the swoopier Atlas Cross Sport. Offering seating for five with room to spare for cargo, the Cross Sport is only slightly less family-friendly than the seven-seat Atlas. Buyers can choose from either a 235-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 276-hp 3.6-liter V-6. Front-wheel drive is standard, but VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive is available. The Cross Sport’s steeply raked rear window and coupelike roofline make it the more stylish Atlas, but rivals such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Honda Passport offer a more rugged image.
